Man Killed In 2-Vehicle Head-On Collision In Bethany

BETHANY, CT — One driver was killed and another seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday morning on Route 63 in Bethany, near Valley Road.

Around 10:57 a.m., a 2012 Jeep Liberty Jet and a 2012 Nissan Murano collided, with both drivers sustaining serious injuries. The operator of the Nissan was identified by state police as Paul Vitelli Jr., 42, of Greensboro, N.C. He died at Yale New Haven Hospital.

The Jeep was operated by Elizabeth Capodiferro, 57, of Naugatuck. She was also taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in Capodiferro's vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries, state police said.
