BETHANY, CT - Barbara Dahn Woodward entered into eternal rest during the early morning hours of August 10, 2020 in the comfort of her home in Bethany.
Born on May 26, 1928 to Carl O. Dahn Sr. and Martha Dahlman Dahn, Barbara grew up in Seymour with her 6 brothers and 2 sisters. After attending high school at Drew Seminary for Young Women in Carmel, NY she earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Connecticut. After working at several different facilities early in her career, Barbara worked for over 20 years at the Southbury Training School until her retirement. At that point, she and her husband, Sherman, became “snowbirds”, spending their winters at their second home in Barefoot Bay, Florida while summering at their home in Bethany on Clover Nook Farm.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her daughters, Linda W. Russell and Deborah W. Demander (and husband Eric), her son Russell S. Woodward Sr., 9 beloved grandchildren, Leonard, Jason and Meghan Russell, Shanna Crangle, Russell Woodward Jr., Carl and Lars Demander, Paige and Samantha Woodward and 5 great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by her loving brothers, Thomas Dahn and Richard Dahn (and wife Mary Roseanne), sisters-in-laws, Helen “Woody” Fassett and Elizabeth F. Dahn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Sherman “Monk” Woodward
Jr. , her beloved son, Sherman “Skip” Woodward III, brothers, William Dahn,
Kenneth Dahn, Carl “Dapper” Dahn Jr., and Leslie Dahn, and sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Turner and Carolyn Weinschenk.

The family is planning a graveside service at a later date. To honor her love of learning and reading, memorial gifts may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Clark Memorial Library, 538 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524 or to the Bethany Lions Club, 40 Peck Road, Bethany, CT 06524 (Please note for their scholarship fund).
