Parents, Students Speak Out About Racism At Amity Schools
Parents and students spoke out at a recent Board of Education meeting about racism at the Amity middle and high schools.
WOODBRIDGE, CT — Parents and students spoke out about the "toxic and unsafe" environment at the middle and high schools at a recent Amity Regional School District #5 meeting, according to NBC CT. One student said that he has dealt with discrimination and racism for years.
Some parents said their students have been called racial slurs. Superintendent Jennifer Byars said that while the district has done work to address the issue, "clearly more work needs to be done."
