Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In Bethany, ID Released: UPDATE

The accident occurred on Christmas Eve.

BETHANY, CT — A pedestrian, James Skaarva, 60, of Amity Road, was struck and killed by a car near 1070 Amity Road Tuesday evening, according to State Police. The pedestrian was trying to cross the road when struck by the car.

Henry A. Sarbieski, 63, of Mulberry Street in Naugatuck, was driving north on Amity Road and had a 7 1/2 foot plow attached to the front of the vehicle, State Police said. Skaarva was trying to cross the road and was struck by Sarbieski's vehicle and Skaarva was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said. Sarbieski was not injured.

The accident is under investigation.
