Rep. Zupkus Celebrates Read Across America Day in Bethany

Representative Lezlye Zupkus paid a visit to students at the Bethany Community School and read books to fourth grade students.

From the Office of the Representative: In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the 20th Read Across America Day, State Representative Lezlye Zupkus paid a visit to students at the Bethany Community School on Thursday morning. The annual event is celebrated on Dr. Seuss’s birthday to teach children the importance and joy of reading.

“I enjoyed participating in Read Across America events throughout the 89th District last week to encourage our children to read and to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday,” said Rep. Zupkus. “Read Across America Day shows students of all ages that reading is a critical fundamental that will travel with them throughout their lives. We must continue to find new and innovated ways to motivate our children to read and to fall in love with reading.”

Reps. Zupkus read books by a number of authors to 4th-grade students in Mrs. Gazsi’s class. After reading, Rep. Zupkus challenged the students to read every day not just at school but also at home.
