Junior Girl Scout troop 60537 has spent this year working on their Bronze Award. The Bronze Award Project is a team effort by a girl scout troop undertaken to benefit the local community and is the highest award a junior girl scout can earn. These fifth graders from Beecher Road School worked to develop their idea, research, fundraise, and implement the project. The troop hopes to make a difference by helping lost pets return home.Lost pets are a major issue in every community and supplying pet ID tags that are easily visible and contain up-to-date information will hopefully lead to more lost pets being returned to their families.Troop 60537 worked with the company Furcode to obtain pet ID tags and collars to donate to the Stratford Animal Rescue Society. These pet tags use “smart” technology allowing anyone with a smart phone to scan the tag and access contact information instantly. The girl Scouts were proud to be able to donate 60 Furcode tags and collars to dogs at the shelter.
Some of the girls from the troop can be seen here donating the pet ID tags and collars to the rescue group.
