Woodbridge Parents Sue Yale-New Haven Over Procedures Following Stillbirth: Report
They question how the hospital acted before, during and after the death.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — Katie and Jim McGonigal say they were bombarded with a series of questions and decisions before, during and after the stillbirth of their daughter, Scarlet Suzy McGonigal, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in July 2015. Now they want the hospital to change those procedures so other parents in similar straits can avoid some of the confusion and anguish.
The Woodbridge parents have filed a lawsuit against the hospital claiming the facility violated the Patient's Bill of Rights by pressuring Katie, who was still under medication, to sign documents relinquishing certain rights, reports the New Haven Register.
For example, they thought Scarlet would be cremated and the ashes discarded without the couple being involved, but the child was buried at a cemetery in New Haven, which they didn't know about for months.

In a statement to the publication, the hospital says it believes it "acted consistently with our mission, vision and values" in providing care, but will not comment on the specifics of the pending litigation.
