Branford's Potato Island Sells For $4.2 Million

The Madison office of Page Taft-Christie's International Real Estate closed the deal last week on the private island home off Stony Creek.

BRANFORD, CT — Potato Island is off the block.

The private island and 3,700 square-foot home's $4.2 million sale was closed by the Madison office of Page Taft-Christie’s International Real Estate last week.

The buyer wants to remain anonymous, a spokesperson for Page Taft-Christie’s International Real Estate said. The agency oversaw the listing, he said. The property had been on the market for $4.9 million.

According to land records, in 2019, the site was appraised at $1.5 million and was assessed for tax purposes at $1 million.

Noted as the highest value sale of 2020 in Branford and the second highest throughout New Haven County, the property includes the "luxurious" 3,781 square foot home, originally built in 1912, with four bedrooms, three full and one half bathrooms, a heated gunite pool and custom granite Jacuzzi, boat facilities and a deep water dock, a wrap-around porch and 360-degree water views. The private property can be accessed via a two-minute boat ride from Stony Creek.

“When it comes to privacy and comfort, this property and its magnificent location exceed all expectations,” said listing agent John Campbell. “It’s not very often that a property of this caliber, let alone one on a private island, hits the open market.
