BRANFORD, CT -- The historic Rogers Island was put up for sale this summer for $25 million, Realtor.com said at the time. The New Haven Register reports that the property sold this week for $21.5 million and was purchased by someone in Fairfield County who plans to use the famous property as an island vacation retreat.

Christine and Edmund Stoecklein sold the island, which they had owned since 2003, the Register reports.
