Animal Bites Child At Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo: Report
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A little girl was bitten on the finger Sunday by a red-rumped agouti - which is a small American rodent that look like a squirrel - during a family visit to Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, reports the Stamford Advocate.
The bite was not serious, Lisa Clair, the zoo's spokesperson, told the publication, but the child was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The animal is housed in a plexiglass enclosure, but zoo officials believe the child stuck her finger through a gap between the plexiglass panels. That closure will be examined and potentially altered to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
