Boat owners needed for Swim Across the Sound
Marquee event raises money for oncology patients

Support the 34th annual St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound Marathon on Saturday, Aug. 7. Powerboats and sailboats are needs for the swim from Port Jefferson to Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport.
The marathon swim raises money for St. Vincent’s Medical Center, specifically to support individuals in their personal fight against cancer. Through the event and sponsor support, the philanthropy department assists patients and their families in the community with wigs and prostheses, medication assistance and mortgage or rent assistance.
Motorboats or sailboats need to be 20 feet or larger. Free dockage will be available at Port Jefferson on Thursday, Aug. 5 and Friday, Aug. 6, and at Captain Cove Seaport on Saturday, Aug. 7, by request and subject to availability.

There will be a free Captain’s Dinner at Danford’s Hotel and Marina on Friday, Aug. 6. Entry to the post event party at Captain’s Cove Seaport following the marathon also will be included. Some expenses may be tax deductible.
Boats are needed to support the swimmers as they swim across the Sound.
