Bridgeport Closes Transfer Station, Shuts Down Garbage Pickup

Mayor Ganim made the announcement Thursday evening, Jan. 4.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — From the City of Bridgeport: Due to the snow fall and inclement conditions, Mayor Ganim has announced snow cancellations that will affect city services on Friday, January 5, 2018.

Transfer Station

The City of Bridgeport Transfer Station will be closed until Monday, January 8, 2018.

Sanitation/ Recycling

Sanitation and recycling collection will resume on Saturday with a three day delay. For example, if your pickup is scheduled Wednesday it will be picked up on Saturday. If your regular pickup is scheduled for Thursday it will be picked up on Sunday. The normal sanitation and recycling collection will resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Bridgeport Public Schools

Superintendent Johnson has announced that Bridgeport Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 5, 2018.

Bridgeport Senior Centers

All four Bridgeport senior centers will be closed on Friday, January 5, 2018. The Eisenhower Senior Center, The East Side Senior Center, The Black Rock Senior Center and The North End/ Bethany Senior Center will reopen on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Mayor Ganim encourages residents to remain home and off the roads during this snow fall with blinding winds for their safety, and to allow plows to continue working to clear the city streets.
