Man Killed In Route 8 Shooting In Bridgeport: State Police
Police were investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday morning.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — One person was shot and killed on Route 8 early Tuesday, according to State Police.
At 3:29 a.m. Troopers assigned to Troop G-Bridgeport responded to Route 8 Northbound after receiving reports of a shooting.
Troopers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. His identity has not yet been released.

As a result, Detectives from the Connecticut State Police-Western District Major Crimes Squad
(WDMCS) responded and assumed the investigation. Department of Transportation (D.O.T) personnel responded to assist with the temporary road closure which has since been reopened as of 11:11 a.m.
"This appears to be an isolated incident where the victim was the intended target of the shooting," State Police said. "An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners in order to determine the cause and manner of death. Detectives from the Connecticut State Police-Western District Major Crimes Squad will continue to work with both our local and federal partners throughout the course of this investigation."
