Bridgeport Hosts First Annual 'Food Matters' Event
The event is held to spread awareness about the the efforts to improve availability of safe and nutritious food for all residents.

From the City of Bridgeport: The City of Bridgeport Food Policy Council and the Bridgeport Health and Social Services Department will host the first annual ‘Food Matters’ event on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at New Vision International Ministries, 130 Gregory St, Bridgeport, CT 06604. This event will spread awareness of the Food Policy Council and the community organizations working in Bridgeport to improve the availability of safe and nutritious food at reasonable prices for all residents, particularly those in need.
This is a family friendly event, free to the public, which will provide educational activities for children. The Council will be presenting its first annual “Bridgeport Food Hero Award” to Mona Jackson from Cook and Grow. Cook and Grow is Junior Chef Program for children 8-13 years old. Light tastings and drinks will be provided by Chef Raquel-Rivera Pablo from A Pinch of Salt and Heidi Vanderwal from the Elegantly Casual Cuisine.
