Bridgeport Legislator Selected As Judiciary Chair
State Rep. Steven Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) has been reappointed as the House chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — State Rep. Steven Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) has been reappointed as the House chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
"It was an easy decision to rename Rep. Stafstrom as the House chair of the Judiciary
Committee," House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) said in a statement. "Through his tireless efforts and focused leadership, the Judiciary Committee will continue its important work with the state’s criminal justice system."
Stafstrom was first elected to represent Bridgeport in the Connecticut House of Representatives during a special election in 2015. He became vice chair of the Judiciary Committee in 2017 before being elevated to serve as co-chair of the joint committee in 2019.

"I am honored that Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas have placed their trust in me to
head the Judiciary Committee," Stafstrom said in a statement. "This committee does such important work protecting the rights of Connecticut residents and ensuring our judiciary system treats everyone fairly and equally."
