Bridgeport Man Pleads Guilty To Gun Charges: Feds

Chaz Dear pleaded guilty to one charge of possession of a firearm as a felon.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport convicted felon pleaded guilty to charges that he possessed a gun, according to a statement from Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

In late 2019, police received information that Chaz Dear, 23, who was on state parole, was selling marijuana. Police then made a controlled purchase of marijuana from Dear.

Dear was arrested in January 2020 after police searched his home and found a Glock 27, .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition, as well as small quantities of heroin and crack cocaine, according to the statement from prosecutors.

Dear’s criminal history includes state felony convictions for drug, gun, and larceny crimes.

He faces up to 10 years in prison.
