In light of the incident, police continue to warn everyone to be careful and vigilante when using ride-share applications. Police recommend riders make sure the driver and vehicle match the information provided by the app and pay close attention to the route the driver is taking.
"Make sure you are able to get out of the car, sit in the rear passenger area, keep your phone in hand, make sure a third person knows you're using the application and share your route with them," police said. "Finally, if at all possible, avoid traveling alone at night. The Stamford Police Department wants everyone to enjoy all that the Stamford Downtown area has to offer, but at the end of the night we want you to get home safe."
