Mayor Ganim and Bridgeport Police Honor Guard Lead Gay March

LGBTQ Art and Civil Rights HIghlighted at Bridgeport Pride Celebration and SameSex Art Exhibit in Downtown Bridgeport

Bridgeport LGBTQ Pride Celebration, Exhibit, Pride Walk and Variety Show was held despite the rain and heavy downpours on July 17, 2019 in Downtown Bridgeport. The celebration began at City Lights Gallery on Golden Hill Street.

The March was led by Bridgeport Police Department Honor Guard and began at the top of the Broad Street steps. Mayor Joe Ganim was joined by other elected officials including State Representatives Antonio Felipe and Christopher Rosario and City Council Members Marcus A. Brown Harrigan and Kyle Langan. The parade route traveled down Broad Street to Fairfield Avenue to the Bijou Theatre where the Variety Show was performed.

This was 9th annual SameSex Art Exhibit and Pride March sponsored by Triangle Community Center, Tito's Handmade Vodka and local activist John Brannelly and Dave Ivanko. It is a signature event for City Lights Gallery, Bridgeport Art Trail and City Lights Vintage. It is led by Executive Director Suzanne Kachmar.
