Nor'easter Continues To Batter Bridgeport, State

The Level 1 storm has brought high winds causing downed trees, branches and utility lines.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — From the City of Bridgeport: The City of Bridgeport Emergency Operation Center (EOC) confirms nearly 1,700 residents are currently experiencing a power outage due the nor’easter affecting the region today, Friday, March 2, 2018.

The Level 1 storm has brought high winds causing downed trees, branches and utility lines. The Public Facilities Department and the United Illuminating (UI) Company continue to be notified of situations as they arise. According to UI, over 1,700 customers are out of power throughout the City with the majority in the Black Rock area. Public Facilities and UI crews are working to repair the issues.

Due to weather conditions and concern for travel safety, all BPS athletic and after-school activities have been cancelled for the day.

The storm is expected to last until earlier Saturday morning. EOC will continue to monitor the weather and outage events and will issue additional communications as necessary. If any residents suffer a loss of electric power, they can call the United Illuminating customer hotline at 800-722-5584.
