Jose Moniz, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Maria Helena Alves Moniz, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Maefair Health Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 4, 1920, in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Laurenio and Maria Estrella Moniz. Jose was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard-working man and always put his family's needs before his own. The strong family values and unconditional love he gave will always live in their hearts; Jose will be deeply missed.

Survivors include seven loving children, Joao Moniz and his wife Cotilde of Portugal, Laurenio Moniz and his wife Lucia of Bridgeport, Honoria Medeiros and her husband Humberto of Trumbull, Ana Medeiros and her husband Duarte, Joe Moniz and his wife Fatima, Lucy Cabral and her husband Belarmino and Tina Benevides and her husband Octavio all of Bridgeport, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Kevin Moniz.

All funeral services were held privately, and burial took place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
