Several Road Work Projects Will Affect Bridgeport Traffic: DOT

Three upcoming road work projects will affect traffic on Bridgeport roads.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will complete three road projects that will affect traffic in the coming weeks.

ROUTE 8 RESURFACING

The first is a nighttime resurfacing project on Route 8 southbound starting Sunday, July 28 and concluding Monday, Sept. 9.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing 3.19 miles of Route 8 Southbound in Bridgeport.

No work will occur from 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, through Monday, September 2. Work will resume at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3.

According to the DOT, drivers can expect lane closures on Route 8 Southbound between .15 mile of SB-BGN OP NB Route 25 to .03 mile north of NB-END OP Interstate 95 and local roads.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide drivers through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

ROUTE 8 SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

The DOT will also work on roadside safety improvements on Route 8 southbound at Exit 3 (Main Street) from Monday, July 29, to Friday, Aug. 2.

Drivers can expect lane closures to occur near the vicinity of the exit 3 off ramp. The regular work schedule for this project is 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

ROUTE 130 (STRATFORD AVENUE) BRIDGE MAINTENANCE

The final project is bridge maintenance on Route 130 (Stratford Avenue) Monday July 29 to Wednesday July 31. The project consists of mechanical repairs to the Route 130, Bridge 03637 (Yellow Mill Drawbridge) in Bridgeport.

Drivers can follow detour route as follows: Westbound traffic, Seaview Avenue to Crescent Avenue to Waterview Avenue to Route 130. Eastbound traffic, Waterview Avenue to Crescent Avenue to Seaview Avenue to Route 130.

The regular work schedule for this project is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Wednesday (Monday thru Wednesday).
