Sodexo Layoffs Begin At U Bridgeport

The University of Bridgeport will suspend dining operations provided by Sodexo.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Sodexo will suspend its dining operations at the University of Bridgeport, according to documents from the Connecticut Department of Labor. The move will result in the loss of 65 jobs.

The university notified Sodexo of the decision March 10. Sodexo will discontinue employment of individuals effective May 11, the last day dining services will be offered.

A Sodexo spokesperson said: “It is our hope and expectation that all affected employees will be able to return to campus.”

Sodexo released the following statement: "Sodexo is working closely with the University of Bridgeport during this unprecedented situation to serve the remaining students, faculty and staff on campus. Our food service operations have been scaled back based on demand and we are closely following the state and DPH guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our employees, consumers and the community. Once normal operations resume, we will work with the University, to identify a mutually beneficial service solution."
