State Representative Charlie Stallworth (D-Bridgeport) has been appointed by Speaker-designate Matt Ritter to serve in the role of Assistant Deputy Speaker of the House.

"Charlie is an incredible legislator who works hard for Bridgeport," Ritter said. "I've watched him passionately support legislation regarding Veterans issues, school bullying, education, public health, human services, and prison reform."

"I'd like to thank Speaker-designate Ritter for bestowing this honor on me," Stallworth said. "I'm excited to take on this added responsibility and will do it to the best of my ability."

Stallworth, a pastor and father of four, has been selected one of the "100 Most Influential African Americans" in the State of Connecticut multiple times. He currently sits on the Banking Committee, Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee and the Human Services Committee.
