After Christmas Restored, Cheshire Family Pays It Forward

The family had their Christmas gifts stolen and were overwhelmed with a toy drive led by the Cheshire Police Benevolent Association.

CHESHIRE, CT — A Cheshire family is paying it forward after being overwhelmed by the community when their Christmas presents were stolen, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. A donation drive led by the Cheshire Police Benevolent Association resulted in nine contractor bags worth of presents being delivered to the Maher family over the weekend, the Record-Journal reports

The Cheshire Police Benevolent Association launched the drive after learning that the family, including three boys ages 8, 6, and 4, had their Christmas gifts stolen while spending Christmas with family in Waterbury. The family’s vehicle, which was filled with Christmas presents, was stolen while idling in the driveway of David Maher’s mother’s home in Waterbury, according to the Record-Journal.

“What an amazing day,” the Cheshire Police Benevolent Association wrote on Facebook after delivering the presents. “We were able to pull off the surprise of the year and restore Christmas for this Cheshire Family. It could not have been done without ALL of the people, businesses, and organizations that donated an incredible amount of gifts.
