Cheshire Grand List Grows By $34 Million

The town announces its grand list for 2020. Appeals must be submitted on or before Feb. 20.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire’s grand list for Oct. 1, 2020 saw an increase of 1.21 percent, or $34.4 million, over the previous year, Town Manager Sean Kimball announced Wednesday.

The net grand list for Oct. 1, 2020 is $2.88 billion. The grand list is an assessment of all taxable and non-taxable real estate, personal property, motor vehicles, and exceptions.

This marks the second straight year of above average grand list growth following last year’s increase of 1.52 percent, according to Kimball.

Kimball said this two-year stretch, totaling an increase of more than 2.73 percent, is “higher than any two consecutive years for non-revaluation grand lists in over 15 years.”

The growth in the net grand list was driven by the following components: real estate increased by $16.3 million or 0.67 percent, personal property increased by $3.49 million or 2.08 percent, and motor vehicles increased by $14.63 million or 5.83 percent, according to Kimball.
