Cheshire Ice Rink Won’t Open Due To Coronavirus Pandemic
The temporary ice rink won't be installed for a second straight season, according to officials.
CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire’s temporary ice rink will not be installed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
In addition to the pandemic, the Record-Journal reports the rink’s location in the back Bartlem Park lot contributed to the decision to not install it for the second straight year.
Parks and Recreation Director John Gawlak said the current location is in direct sunlight all day and makes freezing and maintaining the ice difficult, according to the Record-Journal. Officials will consider relocating the rink in future years.
