Professors Focus on Five Cheshire Businesses

New book looks at successful local entrepreneurs.

A new book that focuses on five Cheshire businesses will be used this fall to teach college students about successful entrepreneurs. 

Businesses highlighted in the book include:

Cheshire residents David T. Cadden and Sandra L. Lueder are co-authors of the textbook, ”Small Business Management in the 21st Century,” according to a statement from Quinnipiac Univeristy. Cadden is a professor at Quinnipiac University and Lueder is an an associate professor emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University.

The writers also included chapters on Simione Consultants of Hamden, SoBe Beverages of Norwalk, Westbrook Lobster of Wallingford, and the New Britain Rock Cats. 

“The entrepreneurs we interviewed understand that customer value is critical to the survival of their businesses,” Cadden said in the statement. “Providing customer value can have a tremendous impact on a firm’s cash flow. You can go bankrupt if you don’t manage your cash well.”

“It was so interesting to speak to each business owner to learn what their experiences were – both good and bad,” Lueder said in the statement.

The authors also stressed the importance of customer relationship management, a service approach that looks to build a long-term and sustainable relationship with customers, in a digital world.

The book, published by Flat World Knowledge, will be available free online to students of professors who use it in their courses. Black and white copies of the book are available to others for $39.95.
