Cheshire Receives Prestigious Audit Award

The town has been recognized for the 27th straight year for its "excellence in financial reporting," officials announced.

CHESHIRE, CT — The town of Cheshire has been recognized with an audit award for the 27th year in a row, officials announced Tuesday.

The town was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

“The GFOA awards this Certificate of Achievement as the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” officials wrote in a news release. “The Town’s report is recognized not only for excellence in meeting the high fiscal standards set by the GFOA, but also for clearly communicating the Town’s financial story and demonstrating a ‘spirit of full disclosure.’”

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 21,000 government finance professionals through the United States and Canada.
