Driver Charged In Fatal Crash In Cheshire: Police

A 24-year-old man was killed in the crash, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — A Meriden man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash last September in Cheshire, according to police.

The crash happened Sept. 22, 2020, near the intersection of Highland Avenue (Route 10) and School House Road in Cheshire. Jason Ventura, 24, of Meriden, was killed in the crash, police said at the time.

Kyle Dumouchel, 24, was arrested Friday on a warrant following a lengthy investigation by the Cheshire Police Traffic Division along with the Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.

Dumouchel was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, operating under the influence, reckless driving, improper use of license or registration, illegal possession of less than ½ ounce of cannabis-type substance, operating a motor vehicle without a license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

He was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on Monday.
