Rep. Linehan Applauds Investments in Local Manufacturing
The State Bond Commission approved grants for manufacturing expansion and job creation.

Liz Linehan (D-Cheshire/Southington/Wallingford) applauded the State Bond Commission’s approval today of investments in Connecticut manufacturing and highlighted the industry’s growth as a motivator for her upcoming event to connect students to the manufacturing industry.
The Commission approved loans to assist in the expansion of manufacturing companies Hobson and Motzer in Wallingford and Industrial Heater Corp. in Cheshire.
“Manufacturing is key to Connecticut’s economic development. This is a smart investment in an industry that’s fueling economic growth and providing skilled, well-paying careers for Connecticut residents.” Rep. Linehansaid. “It also reinforces the importance of continuing to promote technical high school and college programs so that we have the workers to meet growing demand. The upcoming Student-Manufacturer Connection Fair is one way that I’m working to strengthen our school-to-career pipeline.”

“Connecticut’s economy is built on manufacturing, and every manufacturing job in our state makes us stronger and should be celebrated,” said Brian Flaherty, Senior Vice President of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.
Rep. Linehan is hosting the Student àManufacturer Connection Fair at the State Capitol on May 22 along with Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz, Sen. Joan Hartley, and the Connecticut Technical High School System. High school students will come throughout the day to speak to local manufacturers about career paths in the industry.

The Bond Commission approved a loan of $3.5 million to North Carolina-based manufacturer Hobson and Motzer to assist with machinery and equipment purchases associated with the purchase of an additional facility in Wallingford. Under the terms of the loan, the company will retain 244 jobs and create 75 new jobs.
The Commission also approved a loan of $543,000 to Industrial Heater Corp. in Cheshire to assist with machinery and equipment purchases and building improvements. The company will retain 44 jobs and create 4 new jobs.
