Tax Increase Proposed In Cheshire Budget

Cheshire Town Manager Sean Kimball has unveiled his spending plan for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Town Manager Sean Kimball is proposing a $121.57 million municipal budget for fiscal year 2021-22 that carries a 4.57 percent tax increase, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports Kimball’s spending plan, which looks to restore pre-pandemic service levels, would increase the mill rate to 35.12, a 5.72 increase over the current tax rate of 33.22.

The average resident would see their tax bills increase by about $37 a month under the proposed budget, according to the Register.
