DANBURY, CT — One person was hospitalized and two families displaced by a 2-alarm fire that damaged a condominium complex Wednesday night.
Crews from the Danbury Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Deer Hill Avenue and Wooster Street at 10:45 p.m. and were flagged down by neighbors who directed them to the blaze at 130 Deer Hill Avenue.
First responders discovered a 4-story wood frame condo complex with smoke showing from the rear of the building, and called in a second alarm. Crews encountered "heavy fire conditions" on the third and fourth floors in the rear and fire extending to the attic before they could extinguish the blaze, according to fire department officials.

The condo's occupant was able to get free, and was at the hospital for evaluation of burns prior to the arrival of the firefighters. The resident's pets were located and left in the care of a neighbor.
With the assistance of Eversource, condo units damaged by the fire were isolated so that unaffected units were able to be re-occupied. Two units needed to be vacated, and Danbury Emergency Management coordinated with American Red Cross Connecticut to help the two families who were displaced.
