5 Danbury Residents Win Big in CT State Lottery

Five Danbury residents recently won big in the Connecticut State Lottery. Find out if your neighbor was one of them.

DANBURY, CT — Several Connecticut residents are a few thousand dollars richer thanks to the CT Lottery. Math Professor Nicholas Kapoor of Monroe, was giving a lecture to students on probability and odds and used Powerball® as a real life example explaining the odds of winning. “Somebody is going to win,” the professor told his class. Two days later, that somebody was Kapoor. He won a $100,000 Powerball ticket.

“The professor side of me sticks to the numbers—but the winner in me says, ‘It’s Luck,’” a joyful Kapoor told Lottery officials. The winning ticket was sold at Huntington Center Gulf located on 20 Huntington Street in Shelton.

A New Milford man, Leo Denault, won the “30X The Cash 3rd Edition” ticket which prompted him to share his $30,000 winnings with everyone behind him at the store. Before Denault paid for his customers, he stated one requirement— “Go out and do something nice for someone else today!”
