Danbury: Learn to Be a Better Citizen

Mayor Boughton's "Citizens Academy" returns for the third year this fall.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton is holding his third annual “Mayor’s Citizens Government Academy” this fall: an 8-week course on the ins and outs of city government.

The course — which runs in eight 2-hour sessions from Sept. 8 through Nov. 3 — is designed to familiarize residents with the workings of town government in the hope that they will become more involved, either with community events or on elected or appointed boards and commissions.

“The program will help encourage citizens to become involved in the city’s government and enhance their ability to communicate effectively with city officials,” Mayor Boughton wrote in a release announcing this year’s academy.

Class size is limited to 30 persons who must be Danbury residents over the age of 18. Click here to download an application.
