Danbury Man ID'd As Hiker Found Dead in New Milford

DANBURY, CT — The hiker who died Sunday at Lovers Leap state park in New Milford has been identified as a Danbury man.

State officials said João Paulo Lucas, 39, became separated from his wife and children around 3:45 p.m. near an overlook. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to reports.

A family friend has established a GoFundMe page "to help with the cremation and international transfer of our friend JP "João Paulo Lucas" from the USA to Brazil for a farewell ceremony..."
