Danbury Museum to Host Kids Summer Camp Series
Camps are open to students entering first through eighth grade and sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.

From Danbury Museum: The Danbury Museum & Historical Society will host three fun and educational summer camp sessions for 2017 – Cursive, Calligraphy, and Cartography.
Camps are open to students entering first through eighth grade and sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day. The cost for each camp week is $25.00 per child/per session and all supplies will be provided. Each session is limited to 50 participants. Registration forms are now available on the Danbury Museum website on the Exhibits & Events page. The deadline for sign up is June 16, 2017.
The museum's popular Cursive Camp returns this year June 26 through June 30, 2017. Introduce your child to an important and disappearing life skill. Campers will learn to read and write cursive and explore the art of letter writing.

Calligraphy is the art of decorative handwriting and lettering. This camp will be held July 24 through July 28, 2017. Participants will get familiar with the instruments of calligraphy -- the calligrapher's pen (felt-tip), the template sheet, and calligraphy paper. They'll also learn the technique of two of the calligraphic alphabets and learn to develop a style all your own. As they practice and gain skills during the week, each child will create some colorful works of art including greeting cards.
The Cartography camp will explore the art of map making and will be held August 14 through August 18, 2017. Campers will learn the skills needed to recreate historic maps and how modern mapping is used in our community today. This session will include several off site walking excursions as we map Main Street locales and witness the use of cartography in action.

“We're excited to offer these camps to the community and have expanded our offerings based on the popularity of last year's sold out Cursive Camp. The instructors are experienced and talented and we're sure your child will enjoy the unique learning opportunities offered by the Danbury Museum,” stated Brigid Guertin, Executive Director and Danbury City Historian.
