Danbury Police Charge 17-Year-Old In Fatal Drive-by Shooting

Police have charged a 17-year-old Danbury resident in the death of Yhameek Johnson, the 18-year-old killed in a drive-by shooting last month

DANBURY, CT — Police have charged a 17-year-old Danbury resident in the death of Yhameek Johnson, the 18-year-old killed in a drive-by shooting last month.

On July 2, police charged the 17-year-old with the murder of Johnson, whom they said was shot on June 20 in the area of 19 Mill Ridge Road. Police found Johnson, shot in the back, being cared for by area residents. He was taken to Danbury Hospital and succumbed to his wound.

The suspect was already in custody within the state's juvenile detention system when Danbury police charged him.

In addition to murder, police charged the suspect with first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, risk of Injury to a minor, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, theft /illegal possession of numbered plate. He has been remanded to custody.

Police have indicated in their report they anticipate making more arrests related to the shooting.
