Danbury Police: Larceny, Cultivating Marijuana
Bethel man charged with growing marijuana in front of his children's residence in Danbury Public Housing.

Officers of the Community Conditions Unit charged Steven Gibson, 47, of Bethel at 8 a.m. Monday with cultivating marijuana in front of the Eden Drive Housing Complex. Officers were alerted to a large marijuana plant growing in front of an apartment at the Eden Drive Housing Complex. After interviewing Gibson, they decided he was growing the marijuana plant in front of his children's apartment. Gibson was charged with cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a housing project and risk of injury to a minor. Gibson is currently being held on $10,000 bond.
In an unrelated matter, Danbury Police stopped William Tavera, 20, of Danbury. Tavera was observed weaving in and out of traffic on his motorized scooter nearly causing an accident. Upon stopping Tavera, police learned the scooter was stolen. Tavera was charged with fifth-degree larceny, operating without a license and reckless driving. Â Tavera was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 6.
