Danbury Residents Rally Behind Child Hurt in Storm

An eighth grade student at Rogers Park Middle School was critically injured during last week's storm.

DANBURY, CT --A GoFundMe campaign was created Saturday for Lloyd Thyne, an eighth grade honor student at Rogers Park Middle School who was critically injured during last week's storm.

Thyne sustained a broken femur, fractured clavicle, fractured skull, several broken ribs and a punctured lung after being struck by a large piece of metal roof while attending a freshman orientation at Abbott Technical High School, according to the GoFundMe page.

The campaign details that Thyne was rushed by ambulance to Danbury Hospital and then transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. He was recently released from intensive care.

As of Monday morning, the campaign has raised $1o,225 -- more than double its stated goal of $5,000.

The campaign was organized by Victoria Gosling, the mother of Thyne's best friend, according to the News-Times. The funds are intended to "help the Thyne Family stay focused on helping Lloyd get back to the many things he loves and relieve any financial burden they may be left with," according to the campaign.
