Drunk Driver Strikes, Kills Pedestrian in I-84, Flees Scene: Police
A driver who hit a woman on I-84 on the Danbury/Brookfield town line has been arrested and the woman he struck has died. BREAKING

DANBURY, CT — A Torrington man was arrested after he hit a pedestrian near Exit 8 off of I-84 and fled the scene, according to a police report. Roger Leblanc, 43, of Torrington, left the scene after the accident but another driver followed him and called 911, police said. Leblanc was arrested for operating under the influence, evading responsibility and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle.
The victim was identified as Susan Blaney, 53, of Brewster, N.Y. Police said it was unclear why Blaney was a pedestrian on the highway.
The Silverado LeBlanc was driving was located minutes after the accident at the Edge Fitness parking lot located at 100 Newtown Road in Danbury, according to the arrest report. Leblanc failed a standardized field sobriety test and was taken into custody and charged with operating under the influence, evading responsibility and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle. He was held under a $500,000 pending arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
