Female Escapes, Male Caught After Robbery at Danbury Mall

Woman threatened to mace store employees, eluded police.

A female shoplifter escaped police custody, but her male accomplice was detained, after the two allegedly stole merchandise at the Danbury Fair Mall.

According to police, officers were dispatched to Banana Republic at the Danbury Mall on July 31 at approximately 12:08 p.m. where it was reported two shoplifters, a male and a female, were attempting to flee. The female suspect allegedly threatened to mace store personnel who tried to detain them. 

Officers searched the area and located the male suspect, Ezzial Williams, 28, of Bridgeport, near the mall. The female suspect fled in a vehicle and was not apprehended.

Williams was charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and fourth-degree larceny. The investigation for the female suspect is ongoing, according to police.

Williams was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on August 1.
