Housatonic Habitat to host Earth Month Events
Upcycle Challenge, DIY, Pollinator Garden, Eco-Shred, Outdoor Living, and NFCAR Donation Drives Great Deals and Fun

Danbury, CT – April 6, 2021 – At Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, going “green” is more than a slogan. It is more than a day. Join us as we look at sustainable ways to change the world with free events to celebrate the environment.

ReStore Upcycle Challenge 2021 - Saturday, April 24, 2021 – 9 am to 4 pm at Housatonic Habitat ReStore:

The ReStore Upcycle Challenge 2021 brings DIY enthusiasts and novices together to transform items found in ReStore’s 10,000 square-foot resale warehouse into one-of-a-kind designer pieces. The transformations will be sold on Saturday, April 24 beginning at Noon during Housatonic Habitat's Earth Month celebration at ReStore.
Earth Day DIY Paint Demonstration with FOXTROT HOME - Saturday, April 24 – 11 am to 12 pm:

Learn about the art of chalk painting furniture from Foxtrot Home at this free Earth Day event at the Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore. Get tips for your next project, or learn the basics on how to get started. Foxtrot Home will offer their Autentico Vintage Paint available for purchase with 10% of all sales donated to Housatonic Habitat. They will be available to assist with color selection for your favorite piece!
Pollinator Gardening – Saturday, May 1, 2021 – 10 am-2 pm at Housatonic Habitat ReStore:
Learn everything how to create your own Pollinator Garden. Sustainable Gardening includes Pollinator Gardens that are good for nature’s birds and bees. Workshops will be held in this ongoing field station to show how to plan, plant, and maintain a sustainable garden.
Eco-Shred Event - Saturday, May 1, 2021 – 10 am-12 pm at Housatonic Habitat ReStore:
Do you have old file or other things you would like to shred and dispose of? Housatonic Habitat has you covered, for a donation to Housatonic Habitat - $15 per box, $15 per large garbage bag, and $10 for a small garbage bag. You have more than that, stop by and we will work out a donation fee.
Outdoor Living - Saturday, May 8, 2021 – 9 am to 4 pm at Housatonic Habitat ReStore:
Stop by and see all the Outdoor Living furniture and other items for the upcoming outdoor season. Enjoy a hotdog and enter our free raffle to win our “Outdoor Living” prize pack presented by Lapine, Inc.
Annual Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors Donation Drive - Saturday, May 15, 2021 – 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at NFCAR – 15 Stony Hill Road, Bethel, CT:
Local Realtors sponsor their annual donation pick up of home goods, construction materials, and furniture for Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore thrift warehouse to benefit affordable workforce housing in Bethel, CT.
Annual Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors Donation Drive - Saturday, June 19, 2021 – 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at Pamby Motors – 143 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, CT:
Local Realtors sponsor their annual donation pick up of home goods, construction materials, and furniture for Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore thrift warehouse to benefit affordable workforce housing in Ridgefield, CT.
“Here at Housatonic Habitat, we are all about “green” and teaching our donors about sustainability. Housatonic Habitat saves millions of pounds of waste from landfills by recycling, repurposing, and upcycling construction, furniture, and other household goods to be sold in ReStore,” stated Fran Normann, executive director. “It always our goal to leave the earth better than we inherited. These events drive this mission and we look forward to teaching and providing some fun at the same time!”
