John Gonski elected president of Housatonic Habitat Board
VP, Customer Experience Manager for People's United Bank for Fairfield County

John M. Gonski of Sandy Hook, CT has been elected president of the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors at its May meeting. He succeeds Kent Rohrer of Ridgefield who remains on the Board, and heads the charity’s construction program.
Gonski joined the Habitat Board in 2016 and has served as its treasurer for past 3 years. He also served as the Board liaison to the ReStore Advisory Council which lends expertise to the operation of the charity’s 11,000 square-foot curated resale “thrift” warehouse open to the public in Danbury.
Gonski has more than 19 years of experience in banking leadership with recognized strengths in sales staff support and customer relations. He is currently the Vice President, Customer Experience Manager for People’s United Bank for Fairfield County. Previous management roles with both Circuit City and Staples focused on sales process and strategies.

In making the announcement Rohrer said, “We are pleased to have someone like John from People’s United take a leadership role in our organization. We know that John’s extensive customer experience will play an important part in helping our affiliate grow, and increase its recognition.”
Gonski is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut. He is currently a volunteer with the American Red Cross and was a long-time volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. He has previously served on the Boards of Directors for the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut, United Way of Southington, and Southington Chamber of Commerce.
