Earth Day/Month Celebration
Earth Day/Month Celebration (Housatonic Habitat for Humanity)

Both Town Square Media (TSM) Danbury and News-Times publications are media sponsors for Housatonic Habitat for Humanity’s Earth Day activities to focus on environmental issues that recycle, repurpose and create sustainable change.

Executive Director Fran Normann said, “Earth Day is more than a slogan or a day for us. Our ReStore is a thrift warehouse which turns donated household items and furniture as well as construction materials into affordable homes for local working families. We see first-hand the positive impact of thinking green by recycling and repurposing everyday items.” Earth Day activities include an upcycle challenge on April 24 highlighting renovated furniture by local crafters as well as a free DIY painting demonstration at 11 by Foxtrot Homes. There will be sustainable gardening lectures from 10 to 2 and an Eco-Shred fundraiser from 10 to 12 on May 1. An Outdoor Living event will be held on May 8 from 9 to 4. All the events will take place at the ReStore located at 51 Austin St. in Danbury.

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity focuses on making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes. Households often consist of those who have limited assets and who have jobs that also have income caps.
