Mayor Mark Says He Voted for His Dog, Ellie May, for President

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, a likely candidate for Connecticut Governor, said he wrote in his dog Ellie Mae Boughton for President.

DANBURY, CT — "Big Poppa," also known as Mayor Mark Boughton, is at it again in cyber space— he said he was writing in his dog Ellie May for President, according to his Instagram account.

Mayor Mark wrote on Instagram, “I'm writing in Ellie Mae Boughton for President. 'Make The Dog Pound Great Again.'" The post is a spoof on Trump’s "Make American Great Again" campaign slogan. He later wrote on Twitter that the write-in vote for the "First Pooch of Danbury" was just a joke.

Ellie Mae has her own Instagram account, @ellieofdanbury, and her photo graces the packages of a special line of dog treats at Stew Leonard's.
