New Milford Firefighter Pulls Burning Truck From Danbury Building
The assistant chief of the Northville Fire Department in New Milford had to act quickly when a truck caught fire inside a loading dock.
DANBURY, CT — Firefighters responded to a call for a truck on fire inside a local business on Saturday. Fortunately, the manager of the business is a firefighter himself, and was able to defuse the crisis before the fire got out of hand.
The Danbury Fire Department was already on their way to the fire at 7:46 a.m. in the loading dock of Omaha Beef Company on Maple Avenue when manager Jason Street had his own idea.
Street, who is also the assistant fire chief of the Northville Fire Department in New Milford, jumped in the company's forklift, lifted the rear of the burning truck up and out of the enclosed loading dock, and dragged it out of the building into the roadway. Crews from the DFD quickly extinguished the truck upon their arrival.
