Officials ID Body Found In Pond As Missing Danbury Man

The state medical examiner has identified the man found dead in a pond by Mill Plain Road last week.

DANBURY, CT — The state medical examiner has identified the man found dead in a pond by Mill Plain Road last week.

Officials say it was the body of Todd Smith, 57, that was discovered Thursday night in a retention pond by the entrance to the Westwood Village Condominiums at 55 Mill Plain Road. Smith had gone missing in Danbury on Jan. 16.

Police have not yet disclosed the cause of Smith's death, but a report from the initial investigation showed no "apparent signs of trauma," according to Detective Lieutenant Mark Williams of the Danbury PD.
