One Dead in Motorcycle Accident on Route 39: Police

A New Fairfield man has died in a crash that shut down Route 39 on Thursday.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — State Trooper First Class Kelly Grant said that one person died in a motor vehicle accident on Route 39 late on Thursday. According to a police report, an unidentified driver of a Kawasaki motorcycle crossed over the double yellow line on Route 39 in New Fairfield at approximately 5 p.m., crashing into a Kia driven by Alyssa Christine Rabuse, 21, of New Fairfield.

State police said the accident occurred near Old Shortwoods Road and shut down Route 39 for a period of time Thursday evening. Police said both drivers were transported to Danbury Hospital and the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased.
