Patricia A. Moody, 63, Passed Away Peacefully
The Danbury woman worked at Cartus for more than 16 years.
DANBURY, CT — Patricia A. Moody, 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Regional Hospice Center of Danbury CT surrounded by her family and closest friends after a long battle with gastric cancer. Born In Waterbury on July 10, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. "Bud" and Phyllis E. (Pendleton) "Penny" Moody of Watertown.
She was educated in the Watertown school system graduating from Watertown High School in the class of 1971. She went on to UCONN, Storrs where she majored in Education and Language Studies and participated in the junior year abroad program studying in Rouen, France and graduating in 1975. She then entered a fifth year languages program at Paris-Sorbonne University, Paris, France. It was at this time of her life when she discovered the wonder of travel and world-wide cultures.
Her first work experience took her to the southwest US to El Paso, TX where she was employed by B.I. Language Services and taught conversational French and ESL to adults from diverse cultural backgrounds; and developed ESL curricula for specialized adult audiences and teachers. She then enrolled in the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT where she completed coursework for a Masters in International Administration.

In 1981 she relocated to New York City and was employed by AFS Intercultural Programs, Inc. She held various positions there for 20 years as a Director of Programs and Operations for Eastern and Western Europe and Southern Latin America, and later as a trainer and consultant for HR development and training in international operations.
In 2001 she re-settled in CT and began her work at Cartus Corp. In her 16 years at Cartus, Pat collaborated with countless team members across the globe. From her initial role as a GEMS Account Manager for International Assignment Services, to her most recent role in their Intercultural Language Solutions practice, Pat was instrumental in supporting and expanding their clients' international programs through her passion for language and culture.

Pat saw life as wonderful adventure, with every day a new experience meant to be shared with family and friends. That spirit showed in her work and in her love for travel. In her 63 years, she managed to visit 61 countries and 5 continents, making lasting friendships all over the world. She played a mean game of golf, enjoyed music and cooking, and could be counted on to find the humor in any situation. Pat ended her adventure in the same way she lived it, surrounded by her family and close friends.
Besides her mother, Penny, she leaves to cherish her memory, her two brothers, Jay Moody of Watertown, and David (Mary) Moody of Merrimack, NH, and her sister, Betsy (Santiago) Moody-Perez, and niece Renee Perez of Lincoln, NE as well as several cousins and extended family and a huge circle of lifelong worldwide friends.
A memorial service was held on December 3, at First Congregational Church, 40 DeForest St, Watertown. Interment of cremains in Evergreen Cemetery, will be private and a the convenience of the family. The Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, is assisting with the arrangements.
