Schools Superintendent Sal Pascarella Welcomes Students Back on Aug. 27

Danbury Public Schools will have their first day on Aug. 27.

The Danbury Public Schools will start on Aug. 27, after what Schools Superintendent Sal Pascarella said in a newsletter was a very busy summer.

"This year, we added three more schools to the rolls of full-day kindergarten programs. This year, full-day programs were added to King Street Primary, Ellsworth and South Street schools. By next fall, there will be a full-day spot for every child entering kindergarten," Pascarella said.

Once classroom additions are completed at Stadley Rough, Shelter Rock and Park Avenue elementary schools in 2014, all Danbury kindergarten students will attend all-day kindergarten, Pascarella said.

"The entire project adds 20 classrooms to the district and a new media center/library at the Park Avenue elementary school. This helps alleviate overcrowding issues as the district faces a projected influx of approximately 100 new students each year over the next five years," Pascarella wrote in the newsletter.

"Please join us this year for all of the excitement. I look forward to seeing all of our students when they return to school on Tuesday, August 27," Pascarella concluded.
